Chandeliers are part of modern home decor
In these days, chandeliers have become a part and parcel of each modern home decor. They can be use anywhere in the house whether it is foyer, bedroom, dining room, living room or even a bathroom. These chandeliers are available in every size, color and design according to the place where you want to fix it. But one thing I would like to mention here is that these chandeliers are not such cheap item which we can replace after every week with the replacement of curtains or bed sheets. Yeah, one thing we can do every time to match the color scheme and designing of the room is to add shades in the chandelier. You can get a new look of your chandelier without spending thousands of dollars by just adding shades to your chandelier. These chandelier shades basically serve two purposes. First is that they update the room or place where ever that chandelier is hung. Second is that they point the light wherever you want it.
How to avoid burnout
These chandelier shades are fashion statements now a day which can be bought within a reasonable price range. They are highly decorative and also diffuse harsh light making it softer. But all we have to do is that we have to select these chandeliers shades very carefully keeping in mind the design and demand of the place where want them to fix. These shades should not be selected randomly that they destroy the already established look of the area instead of giving the desired results. By using a little research before handed and using our aesthetic sense we can avoid this problem. Now, once we have bought shades for chandelier, fixed them up, it does not mean that now we need to care for them. Burnout is one problem which we usually experience after fixing our chandeliers shades. We can encounter this problem sometimes after days, sometimes after hours or sometimes even just after fixing them. There are just three or four causes behind this burnout and by removing those we can overcome this problem. These reasons and their solutions are described as follows:
Reason 1: Home voltage supply
First reason of the burnout of your chandelier bulb and shades could be the home voltage supply. It should be between 115-120 volts. And the power socket for an armed chandelier having shades must not exceed from 40 watts per socket. If it exceeds the shades could burn.
We can use an electric or volt meter to constantly check the voltage of our power connection. If the reading on the meter exceeds from 125 watts, than we cannot overcome this problem on our own. At this time it is mandatory to call an electrician from your local power company. Secondly we can protect our chandelier shades from burning using a dimmer.
Reason2: Light bulbs tightly screwed
Second reason because of which we encounter the problem of burnout is that are light bulbs are sometimes screwed very tightly. And this tightened bulb bend the brass tab which is present in the bottom of light socket resulting in the light burnout which ultimately can also burn shades.
We can avoid this problem first by screwing loosely and secondly by pulling the brass tabs up with the help of needle pliers.
Third reason behinds the shades burnout is overheating. This overheating can occur by use of high wattage bulb in the chandelier.
We can easily fix this problem by using light wattage bulbs.
Reason4: Poor installation of wire
Fourth reason behind the burn out of chandelier bulb or shades could be poor installation of wire, it can create problem for the whole circuit.
Always check your wire connections whether these are tightly installed or not.
By acting on all above given directions, you can absolutely keep your chandelier shades from burning.
